AN ABSOLUTE HEBRIDEAN HOLIDAY JEWEL

“As my wife and I approach double-figures for our visits to Seascape Cottage post-lockdown, this croft house in Knock has genuinely become our home from home. The house is spotless, spacious and well-equipped and welcoming. We’re usually there with just our dog – but we’ve had the house full up as well – plenty of room for a large gathering and quiet corners if you feel a bit tired from the Island air! It has wonderful views across Broad Bay, then further over to the West Side of Lewis; with Stornoway itself in the foreground, only minutes away by car or bus. When you cross the narrow isthmus (The Braighe) connecting the District of Point with the rest of Lewis, you’ll always look out for it on TV Weather Maps! Seascape is an ideal base from which to explore the “Long Island” (Lewis and Harris); and even further south through the Uists if the inclination takes you. We still do the tourist bit every time we visit – because there’s always something you’ll have missed. Having four seasons in half an hour isn’t uncommon; but it’s the light and the moody weather atmosphere that can change from 45-degree walking, as it’s “a wee bit wild”, to the almost silent ethereal. For us the crowning glories on this island are its beaches – from North Tolsta’s two crackers down to Luskentyre and Seilebost in Harris and over to long golden sands on the western Atlantic Coast in Uig. All the above, plus a fantastically well stocked local shop within a few minutes’ walk, the town of Stornoway and its Airport and Ferry terminal within minutes of the front door – plus the amazing and supportive hosting provided by the owner Richard – what’s not to love?”

Nicola, Hazel, Michelle, Laurie & Bryan – Dunfermline. 2024
” Beautiful cottage in a stunning location. The cottage was spotless, cosy and full of everything you’d need! Excellent communication from Richard too. The ferry over was great, we even saw some dolphins on the return trip! Highly recommend a visit to the Isle of Lewis, and a stay at Seascape Cottage – it will not disappoint! If you are a parkrunner – then the Lews Castle parkrun is simply stunning, and only a short drive from the cottage.”

” Richard is a fantastic host and always available should you require any help, the house itself is immaculate with everything you need for self catering. This is our second time staying at Seascape Cottage, we would return again and again. The views across the Briaghe are fantastic, watching the weather roll by. I could sit here all day. Tips for other travellers There is a great wee shop literally 5 min walk down the house, was an old school that was converted. Also has a cafe, we often went into town for a wander and food. Hs1 Cafe and Eleven are our favourites.”

” Seascape Cottage is a brilliant base from which to explore the Outer Hebrides. My wife and I and our two dogs had a wonderful week’s holiday exploring the islands of Lewis, Harris, Berneray, North Uist, Grimsay, Benbecula, Scalpay and Bernara. The cottage had everything we required for a comfortable stay. It was spotlessly clean, very cozy and was extremely well equipped. Seascape was particularly suitable for our two dogs with a large, secure garden. Would not hesitate to book again for a return visit.”
